Growing Mushrooms Can Be Simple

Follow six straightforward steps from genetics to harvest.

Step 1

Plan Your Grow

Choose a mushroom species and determine how much grain and substrate you’ll need.

Step 2

Inoculate Your Grain

Add your genetics to a sterile grain bag using clean, sterile technique.

Step 3

Let It Colonize

Allow the mycelium to completely colonize the grain before moving forward.

Step 4

Mix With Substrate

Break up the colonized grain, add it to your substrate and mix evenly. Pat down into a flat cake.

Step 5

Wait Until Ready

Let the substrate fully colonize before introducing fruiting conditions.

Step 6

Fruit & Harvest

Cut a 1–2-inch slit near the top, maintain proper conditions and watch your mushrooms grow. (Optional) Add rubber band 1inch under substrate to minimize side pins
